Cookie Policy
Last updated October 13th, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Project Barkr, LLC (DBA “Barkr”) uses cookies and similar technologies on barkr.ai, what each one is for, and how you can accept or refuse them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else we do with personal information.
What cookies are:
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device, and which your browser sends back on later visits. It lets a site recognise that two page views came from the same browser. Session cookies disappear when you close your browser; persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.
Websites can also store information in your browser in other ways, such as local storage. The law treats those the same way it treats cookies, so this policy covers them too and the table below names every one we use.
How Barkr uses cookies:
We use very few, and we would rather say plainly what we do not do with them. Barkr does not use cookies to advertise to you, to personalise what you see, or to build a profile of you. We do not sell or share what they collect. There are two purposes, and that is all:
Strictly necessary:
Storage the site cannot work without, or that exists only to carry out something you asked for. Remembering your answer to the cookie banner is itself strictly necessary, because without it we would have to ask on every page, and so is the anti-spam check that protects our contact forms. We do not ask permission for these, because they are the mechanism by which your preferences and your messages work at all.
Analytics:
Google Analytics tells us how many people use the site and which pages they read, so we can make it better. This is the only optional category, and it is switched off until you say otherwise. Nothing on barkr.ai stops working if you decline. You will simply not be counted.
The cookies and storage we use:
This is the complete list. If it ever changes, this page changes with it.
| Name | Type | What it does | Category | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Cookie, set by Google Analytics | Tells one visitor’s browser apart from another, so we can count how many people use the site rather than how many times it is loaded. | Analytics, only if you accept | Up to about 13 months. Some browsers shorten this on their own. |
| _ga_5GRX91NJ8P | Cookie, set by Google Analytics | Keeps track of a single visit, so a series of pages read in one sitting counts as one visit rather than several. | Analytics, only if you accept | Up to about 13 months. Some browsers shorten this on their own. |
| barkr.consent.v1 | Local storage, set by us | Remembers whether you accepted or declined, so the banner does not ask again on every page. | Strictly necessary | Until you change your answer or clear your browser storage. |
| barkr.consent.id | Local storage, set by us | A random identifier for your answer, so that if you later withdraw consent we can tie the withdrawal to the permission it reverses. It identifies a decision, not a person. | Strictly necessary | Until you clear your browser storage. |
| rc::a | Local storage, set by Google under google.com | Part of Google reCAPTCHA, which tells a person apart from an automated script so our contact forms can stay open to the public. It loads only when you reach a form. | Strictly necessary | Until you clear your browser storage. |
Google reCAPTCHA sets no cookie on barkr.ai, but it does store the entry above under Google’s own domain and sends Google information about your device and how you interacted with the page. Google’s use of that information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Terms of Service.
Asking for your consent:
The first time you visit barkr.ai, a banner offers you a plain choice between accepting and declining analytics cookies. Both options are presented in the same way and take the same single click, because refusing should be no harder than agreeing.
Nothing optional is stored until you choose. Analytics is switched off by default, and dismissing or ignoring the banner is not treated as agreement. Only pressing a button is.
Changing your mind:
You can withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it: select Cookie settings at the foot of any page. The banner reopens with the same two options, your previous permission is revoked immediately, and the analytics cookies are deleted from your browser.
You can also remove or block cookies in your browser, whatever you chose here. Please review your web browser’s “Help” file to learn the proper way to modify your cookie settings. Blocking strictly necessary storage may stop parts of the site working as intended.
The record we keep of your choice:
Data protection law asks us to be able to show that consent was given, so each time you accept, decline or withdraw we record the decision. The record holds the random identifier described above, which of the three you chose, the time our server received it, and a fingerprint of the wording that was on screen when you decided.
It deliberately does not include your IP address, your browser’s user agent, or anything else that would identify you. Collecting that to evidence a permission about an analytics cookie would be a greater intrusion than the thing it records. We keep these entries for as long as we may need to demonstrate the consent, and no longer.
Changes to this Cookie Policy:
If the cookies we use change, this page changes with them, and the “Last updated” date at the top will tell you when. Where a change means we would be storing something new that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent again rather than assume the old answer still applies.
